During your consultation, Dr Choroomi will take the time to fully understand your aesthetic desires. He will answer all questions and concerns to ensure you understand all aspect of chin and cheek augmentation before making the decision to move forward with surgery.
Cheek Implants
Patients with hollow or sagging cheeks due to age or weight loss may be excellent candidates for cheek implant surgery. If your cheeks have lost definition and fullness, cheek implants may permanently restore these conditions providing a more youthful appearance.
Cheek Implant Procedure
This procedure is always performed under general anaesthesia. A small incision is made inside the mouth, above the gum line, hiding any visible signs an operation has occurred. A pocket is formed on the bone and the implant is sized and placed inside the pocket. A temporary suture is placed through the implant to secure it in place. Fine suturing techniques are used to close the incision on the gum line.
Recovery from Cheek Implants
After cheek implant surgery you can expect to be swollen for 10 days. Sutures will be removed on post-operative day 7.
Non-Surgical Alternatives for Cheek Implants
Facial Fillers are excellent alternatives for patients not yet ready for the permanent enhancement of cheek implants. These injections can add volume to hollow cheeks and improve upper cheek contour. While these non-surgical treatments produce outstanding results, they are temporary and will need to be maintained.
Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation can dramatically enlarge or reshape your chin to create balance amongst your other facial features. Chin implants can increase the protrusion of an otherwise weak chin while Chin Reduction involves reshaping or removing bone to achieve a smoother, more defined contour.
Chin Augmentation Procedure
Performed under general anesthesia, Dr. Choroomi prefers to make an incision underneath the chin to hide any visible signs of scarring. To insert a chin implant, tissue is first separated from the jawbone to create a pocket. The implant is then placed inside the pocket and secured to the bone with sutures. If the aim is chin reduction, bone may be filed or shaved down to achieve a more pleasing shape and profile. A dressing will be placed under your chin to support the soft tissue for 7 days.
Recovery after Chin Augmentation
It is normal to experience tenderness in the chin area following surgery. It is advised to eat soft foods or liquids as the ability to chew will be limited for a few days. You can expect swelling and numbness in the chin or face, typically lasting a few weeks. Sutures will be removed post-operative day 7 and normal activity may be resumed after 10 days. After the swelling subsides you will be able to appreciate the new shape and contour of your chin.
Non-Surgical Alternative for Chin Augmentation
Non-surgical chin augmentation is an excellent option for patients who may be hesitant about having surgery, need a minor aesthetic correction or want an idea of what these featured could look like after a surgical operation. When facial fillers are injected under the skin of the chin, they can add volume, improving a sagging jawline or a weak chin. These injections are limited to patients looking to make these features fuller as facial fillers will not reduce the size of a protruding chin. There is minimal discomfort and next to no downtime, however, this treatment is only a temporary fix and will need to be maintained.
